I'm currently traveling to Madrid to teach the Advanced SEO Course at AulaCM, and I'd like to tell you some little-known online marketing tips and tricks that I think you might find very useful.

I'll tell you in advance that I've tried to summarize as much as possible each of the marketing tricks that I explain in the post, but you'll find links where they are explained in more detail.

Tip 1.- Scrape updated posts on Facebook
Something you need to know is that social networks, like any other website, cache the content you publish for several days. This is a big problem when we want to update old content and we change the featured image, and when we share it on Facebook we are surprised to find that the old image and content still appear.

Also, something that has surely happened to you at some point is when you publish a new post on the Blog and you are going to share it on Facebook, and you have the problem that the image, title and description are not displayed correctly, well this solution is also applicable to this problem, and for this we will use the following link;


How do we solve it?

1.- Add the URL you want to analyze and click on the debug button on the right side.

2.- Click on the “Scrap Again” button. Note that Facebook’s analysis may detect some errors that may cause the image or text content to not be visible.

With this, what you are doing is deleting the URL from the cache on Facebook and adding it again, but in this case it is fine. This is great when you have a post that you have just updated because it can take several days for Facebook to update the data in its cache again.

Tip 2.- Add links to old posts to transmit link juice correctly


Some people may think that this is something that is already well known to everyone, and it is completely true, but many people do not know that when you add one or more internal links to an old content and press the update button, Google can take weeks or even months to detect the change and take those links into account, or worse still, it might not even detect them.

This happens because when Google considers that the change is insignificant compared to the previous version of the content it has indexed, it literally ignores it.

How do we solve it?

The solution I apply is none other than adding between 10 and 20% additional fresh content to the content, this way Google will detect the links a few days after hitting the update button.

The other option would be to make a slight change, add a paragraph or two near where we added the links, and send a review request from Search Console .



Tip 3.- Squeezing the news aggregators
Today in the online marketing sector there are only 2 news aggregators that can help you get more visibility and traffic and they are Bitácoras and mktfan , but it is difficult to get a cover in them, and if we don't do it, believe me that your content will go completely unnoticed.

How do we get a cover?

1.- The simplest and most effective solution is to create a group on Facebook with other professionals who have the same goal of getting that cover and together it is easier to achieve it.

For example: to get a cover on mktfan you need to get 25 votes.

In the case of blogs it is a bit more complex, since depending on the volume of posts uploaded, which is much higher than that of mktfan, the amount to reach the front page can be higher or lower, but we can get points in 2 different ways; by direct votes or by tweets that mention the article, it is very important that you do not trust the automatic synchronization of blogs through the feed because “it fails more than a fairground shotgun”, so I recommend that you upload it immediately after publishing the post, so that each and every one of the tweets that are published counts.

You should also know that the news aggregator mktfan uses totally arbitrary filters and it may be that the content does not go up until days after you published it, it only happens to the users they decide, but I sincerely believe that it is a bias that goes totally against the idea of ​​an aggregator.

Why are aggregators important?

1.- You get instant and fast traffic.

2.- You manage to make your content known to other professionals in the sector.

3.- Many professionals use aggregators as a content curation tool, so we can get a lot of social traffic.

4.- As a branding strategy to boost your brand.





Tip 4.- Practice Personal Networking
If you help other professionals, you will be helping yourself. I have always believed in this and it is something I always do and recommend. When you help another person, you generate a moral debt of wanting to return the favor one day, and although in my case I do not do it to generate something in return, I have to tell you that I have received much more than I have given, so I recommend that you start putting it into practice today.

Logically, this is something you have and can do as long as your daily work allows it.

For example, one of my ways of personal networking is the free courses I give every year. It is something that personally fulfills me and gives me a lot of value, but I am lucky enough to forge a nice friendship with all the teachers who participate in my courses.

Networking is a branding or personal branding strategy, and it will logically be a very powerful amplifier of all the online marketing actions we launch.

Tip 5.- Modular and semantic content

I am not a big fan of scheduling old articles in bulk, but it might be a good idea to do a percentage of our posts with these plugins and thus save time to dedicate to other topics.





Tip 7.- How to find niches with high traffic and low competition
If you want to get organic traffic from the Google search engine, I have good news for you. There are niches and keywords with a high volume of visits but with low competition, meaning that we have a good chance of positioning ourselves with those keywords and attracting a large part of that traffic.

Tip 8.- How to increase your organic reach on Facebook?
This trick will allow you to increase organic traffic on Facebook in a very easy and simple way, and I read it in a post by my friend Javi Pastor .

This online marketing trick consists of uploading your videos to Facebook directly, without going through platforms such as YouTube , Vimeo or similar, and the reason is very simple, Facebook wants to become and pose tough competition to Google (YouTube) when it comes to videos, a content that is in fashion on social networks and that is used a lot nowadays.

Tip 9.- Advanced search on Twitter
I read this great online marketing trick on my friend Miguel Ángel Trabado 's blog , who by the way is one of the marketing professionals with the most engagement on Twitter with an average of 38 RTs per tweet.



Advanced search on Twitter will allow us to better segment our searches and thus refine them and make very professional searches.

Normally we all use the simple search that appears on Twitter, which in addition to being very limited, does not allow us to hone in on the specific profile we are looking for.

You can use these advanced searches to search for multiple keywords, exact phrases, remove words, include tags, or the language in which the tweets are published.
